The amp WILL charge while it is in use with the AC adapter! Did you ever notice how it comes on INSTANTLY at FULL POWER, once you connect it to the adapter, regardless of how low the battery was? ...That is because the battery is not being used (to the contrary, it is ALWAYS being charged)while the unit is connected to a power source, via the adapter, regardless of whether it is ON or OFF. The adapter allocates more than enough power to charge the batteries, WHILE in use!
