I am weighing the choices between a GV40 amp and a Carvin Vintage 33 amp. I currently have a Fender Pro Jr. with one 10" spkr and a Fender Reissue Bassman with four 10"s. I love the Fenders but in order to get the natural Clapton BluesBreakers tone I have to have the volume around 7 ( I don't like using pedals). Problem is club owners complain its too loud. I tried using the Pro Jr. on gigs and it's not loud enough. The Carvin is rated at 33 watts rms with one 12" spkr. yet the GV40 is rated louder with one 10." I am thinking it might not be loud enough. I use Les Pauls and Fender Strats and go for the Clapton early tone & SRV's tone when using a Strat. I would like an unbiased opinion please. Thanks!
